For Trump, the issue is clear: mail-in voting threatens the very foundation of American democracy.
Trump warned that continuing with mass mail-in ballots will lead to disaster.
“ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS. I, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL TO BRING HONESTY AND INTEGRITY BACK TO OUR ELECTIONS. THE MAIL-IN BALLOT HOAX, USING VOTING MACHINES THAT ARE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER, MUST END, NOW!!!”
The president tied this fight directly to America’s survival, adding: “REMEMBER, WITHOUT FAIR AND HONEST ELECTIONS, AND STRONG AND POWERFUL BORDERS, YOU DON’T HAVE EVEN A SEMBLANCE OF A COUNTRY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!!!”
Trump isn’t standing alone. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) rushed to back him up on social media.
“I strongly support President Trump in ending mail in voting!! Elections have been stolen for decades with this practice that is ripe for fraud. Save America by saving our elections!!!” Greene declared on X.
According to federal data, nearly one-third of Americans voted by mail in 2024. While that number is lower than the 43 percent seen during the pandemic, it still remains far above pre-2020 levels.
Trump and his allies argue that the mail-in system is wide open for fraud, ballot harvesting, and manipulation — and they’re demanding it be shut down once and for all.
The courts are already standing in Trump’s way. Back in June, a judge struck down his executive order that sought to block states from counting ballots postmarked by Election Day but delivered later. The court ruled that Trump did not have the authority to impose election rules on states.
That ruling sets the stage for another constitutional clash if Trump follows through on his promise.
The 2026 midterms could determine the balance of power in Congress. Democrats are clinging to hopes of regaining ground, but Trump’s push to overhaul voting rules may completely change the playing field.
By targeting mail-in ballots and voting machines, Trump is placing election integrity at the center of the national debate — a move that could energize Republican voters and leave Democrats scrambling.
