Florida’s 2026 governor’s race is officially locked in — and it is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched contests of the midterm elections.
Republican Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly emerged victorious from their respective primaries Tuesday, setting the stage for a November showdown that will determine who succeeds Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Donalds, a prominent Republican congressman and outspoken ally of President Donald Trump, cruised to the GOP nomination. Trump backed Donalds early in the race, giving the candidate a major boost as he fought off several Republican challengers.
