A new Department of Health and Human Services-backed study is drawing attention to an alleged connection between support for certain “gender-affirming” clinical positions, left-wing authoritarian attitudes and the willingness to justify political violence.
The research, released Wednesday, examined responses from more than 1,200 American adults and found that people who expressed stronger support for what the study describes as “gender-affirming” clinical positions also tended to register higher levels of left-wing authoritarianism.
Researchers said the relationship remained statistically significant even after accounting for factors including participants’ political identification and age.
