A new analysis is raising fresh questions about how effectively the federal government verifies eligibility for Affordable Care Act programs, alleging that millions of Americans were improperly enrolled in 2024.
The report, released Wednesday by the Paragon Health Institute, estimates that roughly 14.3 million people enrolled through ACA exchanges and Medicaid expansion were not actually eligible for the programs. That figure represents about 34% of all enrollees covered through the two programs, according to the analysis.
The financial consequences could be enormous.
