“Where his approval rating should be right now is soaring. It’s not, it’s plunging. It’s one point away from the lowest net approval rating that he’s had this entire cycle. The last time he had a rating, it was negative five, was back in April. That was when the market imploded 15%,” Mitchell added.
The sudden decline, Mitchell suggests, is directly tied to public outrage over the way Trump’s camp has handled revelations from the Epstein files. He calls the current messaging strategy a “misdirection” that’s failing to resonate with voters.
“So people are trying to say this (Epstein files) isn’t a big deal. People are trying to say nobody wants this Epstein information out. It’s an absolute misdirection,” he said.
Mitchell went on to say that the mishandling of the Epstein narrative could become a political liability akin to how the war in Afghanistan haunted previous administrations. He issued a stark warning—if Trump doesn’t address the backlash head-on, it could seriously hinder his re-election momentum heading into the fall.
“This is horrifying. If it isn’t corrected, it threatens derailing Trump’s agenda, getting rid of his political capital. If this isn’t fixed, this might hang over Trump’s administration. It could be his Afghanistan going into the fall with Democrats still pounding away. How come you flip-flops on Epstein? And, in my opinion, there are some very easy fixes,” Mitchell warned.
Mitchell encouraged the Trump team to quickly recalibrate and rethink their talking points before more political damage is done. His blunt assessment: the current strategy is flat-out “not working.”

“President Trump and his team better reverse course on their Epstein talking points. It’s not working.”
The public appears to be rejecting attempts by media elites and political operatives to sweep the Epstein controversy under the rug. With powerful names and disturbing allegations resurfacing from the unsealed files, it’s no wonder voters are demanding clarity—and consequences.
The media blackout on certain names and connections has only intensified public skepticism. As Trump’s poll numbers slide, it’s clear the American people aren’t satisfied with vague answers or dismissive rhetoric.
With the 2024 election ramping up and Democrats in disarray, Trump has a golden opportunity to press forward. But if he ignores the Epstein backlash, it could become a political landmine that derails what should be a strong run toward victory.
Mitchell’s message is a simple one: Trump’s base is wide awake—and they want the truth. It’s time to stop dodging and start addressing the issue before it’s too late.
