A social media post from a Georgia-based life coach, Osha Cerese, has ignited a heated online debate after she recounted an incident where she declined to assist a fellow shopper at a grocery store. The request? Helping retrieve an item from a high shelf. While seemingly innocuous, Cerese’s response and subsequent commentary have polarized opinions, with some accusing her of arrogance and others supporting her stance.
Cerese shared her experience online, explaining that a woman in the store approached her and said, “because you’re tall,” implying she needed help reaching an out-of-reach item. Instead of obliging, Cerese responded, “[N]o, I’d rather you get someone who works here.”

The interaction did not end there. In her post, Cerese elaborated: “She got assistance & when I tell you she would’ve wanted me to walk to the other side of the section to gather something from the top shelf for her. That is highly offensive to me.” She then added, “And yes she was and this is not the first time I’ve experienced this,” leading many to interpret “yes she was” as an allusion to the shopper’s race.

So what she confirmed is that she doesn’t care to help anyone…an attitude that is surprisingly common in today’s society.
