Naturally, Americans demanded answers. Who was responsible? Was it domestic terrorism? Foreign influence? A coordinated campaign by political adversaries? Until now, the silence from federal authorities has only added fuel to the fire.
But according to Patel, there are legal reasons for the lack of public information. “There are two reasons: two open, ongoing prosecutions,” he told Bartiromo. “So two of the investigations are obviously closed because the individuals are dead, but there’s two live prosecutions. And so we can’t get ahead of the federal court case.”
Patel acknowledged the frustration but urged patience, stating that much more will be revealed through legal proceedings. “A lot of that information will come out in the federal court cases,” he promised.
The FBI Director also emphasized that both he and Bongino are deeply involved in every step of the probe. This isn’t being outsourced or left to junior agents — they’re personally invested. “We have personally invested our time in making sure that we have looked at all the — any possible international connections to terrorism and adversaries alike,” Patel said.
In fact, the two have conducted firsthand reviews of evidence. “We have both been down to Quantico. We have both done the laboratory testing. We have both seen the explosives analysis. We have both seen the firearm and physically held it. We are all in on these investigations.”
When Bartiromo pressed further, Bongino — a former Secret Service agent who knows the threats Trump faces better than most — got candid. “You know what, Maria? Kash is not kidding. We have been personally briefed extensively on every single detail, nugget, tendril of this case,” he said. “One is actively in court right now, so, out of respect for the case, it’s probably more appropriate that I stay quiet on that.”
And then came the moment that may disappoint those who’ve suspected darker forces at play. Bongino didn’t sugarcoat his conclusion: “However, I’m not going to tell people what they want to hear. I’m going to tell you the truth. And whether you like it or not is up to you,” he said. “If there was a big explosive ‘there’ there… there isn’t. There isn’t.”
Bongino continued, laying it out as plainly as possible: “There, in some of these cases, the ‘there’ you’re looking for is not there. And I know people — I get it. I understand. It’s not there. If it was there, we would have told you.”
That revelation — blunt as it was — may not be what some Americans expected. Many have speculated about covert operations, foreign plots, or even deep state sabotage. But according to the FBI’s top brass, the truth may be far less dramatic, though no less serious.
What’s clear is that both Patel and Bongino have put themselves at the forefront of these investigations. Their willingness to go public shows the gravity of these events and their commitment to full accountability — when the time is right.
Until then, the American people will have to wait for the legal process to unfold. But this appearance offered the strongest signal yet: the nation’s top law enforcement leaders aren’t turning a blind eye. They’re in the trenches, pursuing justice, and determined to expose the full truth — whatever it may be.
