In a dramatic turn of events that has sent shockwaves through Washington, Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver now finds herself at the center of a growing scandal after being slapped with federal charges for physically and verbally attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at a detention facility in New Jersey.
U.S. Attorney Alina Habba made the announcement late Monday evening, confirming the congresswoman’s indictment under federal law.
“Today my office has charged Congresswoman McIver with violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 111(a)(1) for assaulting, impeding and interfering with law enforcement,” Habba declared.
