Over the past decade, progressive activists on college campuses have pushed for segregated dorms, racially separated campus events, and even segregated graduation ceremonies. These aren’t fringe rumors—they’ve been openly demanded and defended as “safe spaces” by left-wing student groups.
Did Holder ever show up for those debates? Did he use his platform to condemn the new version of “separate but equal” coming from the political left?
Of course not.
Instead, he’s using the emotional power of King’s legacy to swing at Trump supporters and conservatives—while ignoring the real-world examples of racial division coming from his own ideological side.
And he didn’t stop there.
According to Breitbart News, Holder used the moment to paint America as a country in crisis, claiming that basic laws and institutions are under attack. As quoted in the report, Holder argued there is “a sustained effort to eradicate the Voting Rights Act,” a law he called “the crown jewel of the civil rights movement, and an essential part of Dr. King’s legacy.” He said the forces reshaping the country are “testing not only our institutions, but our collective and individual capacity to defend the ideals of this nation.” He added that “these actions require from all of us a clarity of purpose that is equal to the rising stakes.”
Then came the rhetoric conservatives have grown used to from Holder: the claim that the government is being “weaponized,” but only when it’s not being used the way Democrats want.
Holder claimed the Department of Justice (DOJ) is being “weaponized by the president and his lackeys to silence his critics and to intimidate voters.” He also criticized federal immigration enforcement, saying, “We are observing Gestapo tactics by federal immigration law enforcement in Minnesota as well as around the country.”
“Gestapo tactics.”
That’s not just heated language—it’s reckless. Comparing American law enforcement to one of the most brutal agencies in modern history is the kind of smear designed to inflame emotions and delegitimize immigration enforcement altogether.
What makes Holder’s comments even more unbelievable is the reality on the ground.
Federal officials have reportedly confirmed the removal of more than 2,500 criminal aliens in recent weeks and are pushing for the transfer of 1,360 more detainees from city jails. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem described those arrested as “vicious murderers, rapists, child pedophiles and incredibly dangerous individuals.”
That’s who Holder is defending—at least indirectly—when he condemns enforcement as “authoritarian.” It’s hard to imagine the average American hearing “criminal alien removals” and thinking the real threat is the agents doing their jobs.
Meanwhile, the political leaders in Minnesota have taken the opposite stance—resisting federal action and turning immigration enforcement into yet another partisan battle. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Gov. Tim Walz have opposed federal actions, which has reportedly triggered a Justice Department investigation into whether local officials interfered with immigration enforcement.
And in another emotional turn, Holder invoked a tragic shooting involving Renee Good.
Holder also invoked the fatal January 7 shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. Referring to the matter, he told the audience, “You all remember the name Renee Good, and you say her name, you say her name.”
Here’s the clip:
It was a clear attempt to mirror activist slogans and weaponize tragedy in front of a sympathetic crowd—without acknowledging the broader context of rising crime, border chaos, and the federal responsibility to enforce the law.
At this point, none of it is surprising.
The modern left has treated race as both a political weapon and a permanent campaign strategy—something to be stoked, marketed, and exploited whenever power is on the line. And Eric Holder has been one of the movement’s most reliable messengers.
Democrats love to claim they want to “end racism,” but the way they operate makes you wonder what they’d do without it.
Because if the outrage ever stopped—if the country ever truly healed—they’d lose one of their most effective tools for control.
And that may be the real reason Eric Holder keeps showing up to events like this, insisting America is on the verge of “re-segregation,” even when his own side has been pushing division for years.
