This dramatic shift aligns with President Trump’s no-nonsense border agenda, which is ramping up fast. ICE agents—already stretched thin—are now getting much-needed reinforcements from one of the most powerful law enforcement agencies in the world.
The Numbers Tell the Story
ICE has just under 10,000 agents dedicated to rounding up and removing illegal aliens. That number is about to skyrocket. According to the new strategy, 45% of FBI agents at the country’s 25 largest field offices will be assigned to immigration enforcement full-time.
In Atlanta alone, 67 FBI agents will work seven days a week in support of ICE operations. The Trump administration plans to eventually deploy over 2,000 FBI agents nationwide to hunt down and deport illegal aliens—especially those with violent criminal histories.
This crackdown isn’t just symbolic—it’s an all-hands-on-deck operation.
“All Hands on Deck”
“We have been actively engaged in immigration enforcement efforts in coordination with our DOJ and DHS partners,” the FBI memo stated.
FBI spokesman Ben Williamson echoed the sentiment. “The FBI has been committed to supporting our partners in immigration enforcement and will remain so,” he said.
That commitment isn’t just rhetoric. IRS criminal enforcement agents have also been deputized and sent to help ICE. In Chicago, a dozen IRS agents are spending the rest of the year on immigration enforcement duty. Other federal and state agencies—from the Justice Department to the Texas National Guard—are joining the mission.
Even some agents inside the FBI aren’t thrilled. “This is not what we do, these are bad ideas,” one anonymous source told NBC News. “If this was a Democrat administration, I’d be saying this is bad, we shouldn’t be doing this.”
But that internal dissent hasn’t slowed Patel down.
Cleaning House at the Bureau
Patel is also gutting the old guard. Over 667 FBI employees have been approved for early retirement, a move insiders say is designed to root out deep-seated political bias that’s plagued the bureau for years.
This is all part of a top-down reform effort under President Trump, who has long accused the FBI of acting as a political weapon against his administration and supporters.
Big Funding, Bigger Enforcement
The aggressive new immigration push is being backed up by a Republican-led funding bill currently moving through Congress. The legislation would greenlight 10,000 new ICE hires and funnel $27 billion into enforcement operations—potentially the largest immigration crackdown in U.S. history.
With violent illegal aliens—including tens of thousands with criminal records like murder and assault—roaming the streets, this enforcement shift is being framed as a national security imperative.
President Trump’s allies say the time for half-measures is over.
A Warning Shot to Sanctuary Cities
By mobilizing the FBI, IRS, National Guard, and other federal units, the Trump administration is sending a clear signal: sanctuary policies will no longer shield criminals from deportation. If you’re in the country illegally and have a rap sheet, there’s a new sheriff in town—and he’s coming with backup.
With Kash Patel at the helm, the FBI is turning a corner—and Democrats in Congress are scrambling to respond. The days of ignoring federal immigration law may be numbered.
