In yet another bitter swipe at her political rivals, Hillary Clinton, the twice-failed Democrat presidential nominee, managed to insult not just Republican women—but every conservative female leader in the country—with a single smug comment that’s raising eyebrows and sparking outrage across the political spectrum.
Speaking on May 1st at New York’s 92nd Street Y during a conversation with Margaret Hoover, Clinton was asked what advice she would give to the first female President of the United States. Instead of offering insight or inspiration, she delivered a divisive, backhanded remark aimed squarely at Republican women.
“Well, first of all, don’t be a handmaiden to the patriarchy, which kind of eliminates every woman on the other side of the aisle, except for very few,” Clinton sneered.
So much for unity. With that line, Clinton essentially dismissed every female Republican lawmaker, leader, and voter as a puppet of male dominance. The message was clear: if you’re a conservative woman, Hillary Clinton thinks you’re betraying your gender.
