The 2028 Democratic presidential field is already taking shape, and Gavin Newsom has now revealed one major condition that could determine whether he enters the race at all: Kamala Harris.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said he would not seek the White House if Harris decides to launch another presidential campaign, giving the former vice president a potentially significant role in determining Newsom’s political future. Newsom has not formally announced a 2028 bid, but he has increasingly made moves consistent with someone considering a national campaign.
His comments came during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, where the two discussed the growing Democratic field and the possibility of a crowded presidential primary.
“I wouldn’t run if she ran,” Newsom told Tapper.
