As debates over how American history should be taught continue in statehouses and classrooms, Kelley Paul is taking a decidedly old-fashioned approach: putting the story of the American Revolution directly into the hands of children.
Paul, an author and the wife of Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, recently visited Grace Christian Academy in Owensboro, Kentucky, where she read her new children’s book, Good Night, Young American, to students.
The September visit came as the private Christian school conducts a yearlong emphasis on American history, heritage and the nation’s 250th anniversary.
