Colorado State Senator Faith Winter, a Democrat from Broomfield, tragically died the night before Thanksgiving in a fiery crash on Interstate 25, authorities confirmed.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office revealed Winter’s blood-alcohol content was 0.185% at the time of the accident — more than double Colorado’s legal driving limit of 0.08%.
Winter, 54, collided with a stopped Ford F-350 in the left lane of northbound I-25, just south of Denver, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office press release issued Friday. She was driving alone when the wreck occurred.
Investigators reported that the crash happened shortly after a separate three-vehicle accident had already created heavy congestion in the area. Winter’s vehicle rear-ended the pickup, setting off a fiery collision.
