But Mary Katherine Ham wasn’t having any of it.
During the panel discussion, Ham took direct aim at the Left’s tactic of equating violent mobs with peaceful demonstrators.
“The question is that rioters are not protesters, this is separate from a First Amendment issue,” Ham explained. “There are explosives going off and rocks and other incendiaries are being thrown at officers, people blocking roadways. That is not protest activity.”
That’s the common-sense perspective that’s missing from most legacy media coverage.
It’s not “civil disobedience” when individuals throw explosives at law enforcement or shut down public streets. That’s violence — and it has nothing to do with protected speech.
Ham didn’t stop there. She drilled into the real issue at the heart of the immigration crackdown — and it has nothing to do with legal immigration or peaceful protests.
“The question for the American people and the American government is: does the federal government have the authority and a duty to come and arrest, for instance, these convicted criminals who are also illegal aliens?” Ham asked.
That’s a question most Americans would answer with a resounding “Yes!”
Then Ham revealed details that blew a hole in the Left’s sob-story narrative.
Ham exposed the shocking truth about who Trump’s operation is actually targeting.
“Among just a handful, a Filipino national, Mexican nationals, all convicted of sexual assault or assault with a deadly weapon,” she said.
These aren’t harmless immigrants looking for a better life. These are repeat violent offenders with records involving sexual assault and deadly weapons.
And yet the ACLU is fighting to keep them here — protected by sanctuary policies in cities like Los Angeles.
Ham pointed out the inconvenient truth Democrats don’t want to hear.
“Many Americans, even L.A. residents, want these folks out of the country,” she stated.
Despite what the media would have you believe, average Americans — even those in deep-blue cities — want violent criminals deported, not coddled.
But local Democrat officials are more interested in protecting their political image than enforcing the law.
Ham didn’t shy away from calling out California’s top brass.
“If the LAPD and Newsom and Bass are not doing that, where does the force protection come from?” she asked, referring to California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
It’s a damning question. When local governments refuse to enforce immigration laws, the federal government has no choice but to act.
Ham closed her remarks by pointing out what polling and voter behavior have consistently shown — Americans want dangerous illegal aliens off the streets.
“This is not something the American people object to; and when it comes to the criminal background of these folks, they are very supportive of getting them out of the country,” she said. “And if this is illegal and they have the authority to do it, then they should do it.”
That’s not partisan spin. It’s the will of the people.
Even many on the Left agree: foreign nationals convicted of violent crimes have no business remaining in the United States.
Ham’s comments ripped the mask off the Left’s immigration agenda.
Behind the legal jargon and virtue signaling, it’s clear: radical activists and Democrat politicians are more concerned with shielding foreign offenders than protecting American families.
They call it “justice reform” when murderers walk free.
They call it “immigrant rights” when deportation orders are ignored.
But the American people see through the smoke and mirrors.
That’s why Donald Trump won on a promise to put America first. And it’s why millions continue to support his efforts to clean up the chaos Democrats created.
Mary Katherine Ham summed it up better than anyone — it’s time to stop protecting criminals and start defending Americans.
