The tragic flood in Texas that claimed over 80 lives has taken a political turn, with some on the Left rushing to blame former President Donald Trump. But top meteorologists and emergency officials are now stepping forward to set the record straight—and they’re not holding back.
Over the weekend, as the Guadalupe River surged more than 30 feet in just hours, a false narrative began circulating online and in mainstream media circles. Critics of Trump quickly tried to tie the devastation to supposed staffing cuts at the National Weather Service (NWS) made during his presidency.
One of the loudest voices was ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who suggested on Saturday that “there were significant staffing shortfalls to the National Weather Service’s offices in the region.” But experts on the ground say that’s flat-out wrong.
Despite previous reductions under the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, meteorologists in Texas insist that their offices were fully operational during the emergency. Communication was steady, warnings were issued in time, and staffing levels were sufficient.
