Climate radical and notorious anti-Israel protester Greta Thunberg just got the ultimate dose of poetic justice. After joining a publicity stunt meant to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza, the 22-year-old activist found herself back on an airplane — her most hated form of travel — and sent packing to Sweden.
The drama unfolded shortly after Thunberg boarded a British-flagged vessel dubbed the Madleen, which was part of a failed effort by the so-called “Freedom Flotilla Coalition” to breach Israeli waters. On Monday, Israeli forces intercepted the yacht and detained all 12 individuals aboard, including Greta herself.
As reported by the UK Telegraph, Thunberg was booted out of the region via Paris on Tuesday — on a commercial flight, no less. That’s right: the same climate crusader who once refused to fly because of carbon emissions had to board a jet to get back home.
In a move that separated her from the rest of the flotilla crew, Thunberg apparently signed different paperwork and was released early. “Why would I want to stay in an Israeli prison longer than necessary?” she reportedly said after arriving in Paris following a five-hour flight.
Still trying to spin the disaster as some sort of noble stand, Greta claimed: “We were well aware of the risks of this mission,” and added, “The aim was to get to Gaza and to be able to distribute the aid.”
