But President Donald Trump isn’t buying that excuse. Just last month, Trump demanded Schiff be held accountable for what he called blatant fraud.
“Adam Schiff is a THIEF! He should be prosecuted, just like they tried to prosecute me, and everyone else — The only difference is, WE WERE TOTALLY INNOCENT, IT WAS ALL A GIANT HOAX!” Trump declared on Truth Social.
Alongside his post, Trump attached a copy of a sworn, notarized affidavit signed by Schiff himself — in which he claimed under penalty of perjury that the Maryland property was his “principal residence.”
This wouldn’t be a minor paperwork error. If true, Schiff would have committed mortgage occupancy fraud — a federal crime — by falsely claiming a home as his primary residence to receive lower interest rates and favorable terms.
As if that weren’t enough, Schiff still maintains his luxury condo in Los Angeles, which he also labels as his “primary residence.” Clearly, both homes can’t be primary at the same time — and now, that contradiction could cost him dearly.
In a bombshell segment aired last month on The Ingraham Angle, Laura Ingraham revealed that she had obtained a criminal referral submitted to the Department of Justice by housing industry executive Bill Pulte. The referral outlines a 16-year pattern of deceit by Schiff, accusing him of deliberately falsifying documents to manipulate lenders and secure better mortgage rates.
“The referral, submitted to the DOJ by Housing Director Bill Pulte, alleges that Schiff has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms—impacting payments from 2003 to 2019 for a Potomac, Maryland-based property. Schiff owns a home in California and another in Maryland,” said Ingraham.

The allegations describe a methodical operation: Schiff allegedly used false information over the course of 16 years, spanning from 2003 to 2019, while juggling two high-value properties — one on each coast.

Now with a formal criminal referral in the hands of the DOJ, the case may soon escalate. And if charges are brought, Schiff could face serious legal consequences for what appears to be a long-running scheme rooted in dishonesty.
As pressure mounts, Schiff has tried to deflect attention. Just last month, he posted a video to X (formerly Twitter), lashing out at Trump — a move that now seems like a desperate attempt to distract from his own mounting legal troubles.
The days of Schiff acting above the law may be numbered. With evidence piling up, and calls for accountability growing louder, it remains to be seen whether justice will finally catch up with one of the Democrat Party’s most outspoken figures.
