Freshly released government records in Britain are reigniting scrutiny over the late Queen Elizabeth II and her role in elevating a royal figure now engulfed in one of the darkest scandals tied to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
The newly surfaced documents reportedly reveal that the queen personally backed Prince Andrew for a powerful diplomatic trade position despite growing concerns surrounding his judgment, conduct, and close relationship with Epstein. Critics say the papers paint a disturbing portrait of an establishment more interested in protecting royal prestige than safeguarding public trust.
According to the records, Queen Elizabeth strongly encouraged government officials to install Andrew in a high-profile role representing British commercial interests overseas. A letter from the head of the United Kingdom’s trade promotion agency reportedly stated, “The Queen is very keen that the Duke of York should take on a prominent role in the promotion of national interests.”
That endorsement would eventually place Andrew at the center of Britain’s international trade efforts for nearly a decade.
The documents now drawing outrage suggest the royal appointment may have opened doors for behavior that investigators later scrutinized heavily. During his time serving as Britain’s trade envoy from 2001 through 2011, Andrew allegedly shared sensitive government material with Epstein, including reports tied to overseas economic opportunities and international negotiations.
