“When he was elected in November, he knew he had to make America safe again,” Noem said.
When Trump appointed her to lead Homeland Security, Noem said her mission was straightforward: send a warning to the world that illegal immigration would no longer be tolerated. “That no longer will we tolerate people being in our country illegally and that they need to go home,” she recalled.
The message, she said, was received loud and clear. “The world got the message. They’re leaving on their own, which is the best thing for American citizens,” Noem said.
As illegal immigrants have begun self-deporting in record numbers, Noem said the American economy is already seeing major benefits. “2.5 million Americans became employed in the last six-seven months,” she announced.
She called it proof that Trump’s “America First” policies are directly benefiting U.S. families. “That’s incredible growth for U.S. citizens that will benefit their families and the people who love this country, who were born here, who want to be employed and now have new opportunities for success,” she said.
A statement from the Department of Homeland Security highlighted the aggressive new measures. “In her first 200 days as secretary, DHS also launched an international, multimillion-dollar ad campaign warning illegal aliens to LEAVE NOW because if they don’t, we will arrest them and deport them. This new data shows illegal aliens are hearing our message,” the release explained.
The DHS announcement also confirmed the Trump administration shut down the controversial CBP One App, which under Biden had “allowed more than one million aliens to illegally enter the country.” The app has now been repurposed to let illegal immigrants voluntarily return home instead.
In an added twist, those who self-deport are being offered $1,000 and a free flight back to their home country—an incentive to leave rather than drag out deportation proceedings.
“The rapid decline in the illegal immigrant population is already being felt nationwide, from reduced strain on public services to a resurgence in local job markets,” the release added.
While Trump and Noem crack down on illegal entry, another battle is being waged in the court system. Nearly 50 federal immigration judges have been dismissed after years of complaints that activist judges undermined deportation cases and handed out special treatment to illegal immigrants.
The firings came quietly—just a three-line email, no explanation, and no public announcement. But the message couldn’t be clearer: the era of judges blocking deportations is over.
For years, Biden’s immigration courts struggled under a backlog of more than three million cases. Trump’s move sends a loud signal that he intends to restore order—not just at the border, but inside the courtroom as well.
Of course, the ousted judges are pushing back. Some are already speaking to the media, claiming they were unfairly targeted. El Pais reported on one case:
“Jennifer Peyton, an immigration judge since 2016, was part of the Chicago court’s most visible group of judges, tasked with training new judges and overseeing highly complex cases. On July 4, she told CBS, while on vacation with her family, she received her termination email as a complete surprise. She maintains that she has never faced any disciplinary action and has always received positive performance reviews,” the outlet reported.
From border security to immigration courts, Trump is delivering exactly what he campaigned on—restoring the rule of law and protecting American citizens first. The combination of tough enforcement, direct messaging, and accountability in the courts has already begun to change the nation in less than a year.
For millions of Americans, it is proof that when promises are backed by action, results follow.
