Investigator Spotted at Letitia James’ Home!

The walls may finally be closing in on New York Attorney General Letitia “Tish” James. On Friday, Department of Justice Special Attorney Ed Martin was seen in Brooklyn inspecting James’ multi-family property, which has become ground zero in a growing federal mortgage fraud investigation.

Martin, wearing a beige trench coat, made his way to James’ Clinton Hill brownstone just a week after Attorney General Pam Bondi tapped him to lead dual mortgage fraud probes targeting both James and California Senator Adam Schiff, according to The New York Post.

The spotlight is now on grand juries in Virginia and Maryland, which are reportedly weighing possible criminal indictments for James and Schiff. Both are accused of falsifying property records in order to lock in favorable mortgage terms—something everyday Americans would never get away with.

At the center of the controversy is James’ Brooklyn property at 296 Lafayette Avenue, officially registered as a five-unit dwelling. Federal investigators say James misrepresented the building as a four-unit property on mortgage applications, building permits, and filings for government aid—an intentional move that could have given her access to better interest rates and lower down payments.
