The latest discovery shattered plans to welcome students back on Tuesday following an earlier delay. Teachers who arrived Monday to prepare their classrooms instead found new areas showing mold growth, forcing Richmond Public Schools to keep the building closed while officials attempt to determine the full extent of the problem.
The mold has drawn significant attention, but another disturbing issue has added to parents’ frustration: rodents had reportedly been spotted inside several rooms at the school shortly before the start of the academic year.
