Those words came as the scale of the military campaign became clearer.
Israeli and American forces launched what officials described as a carefully coordinated, high precision assault aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, degrading its ballistic missile stockpiles, and neutralizing key elements of its military command structure.
The initial wave reportedly began in the early morning hours, with Israeli Air Force jets leading the charge. U.S. assets, including air and naval forces positioned across the region, followed with additional strikes designed to expand and reinforce the offensive.
Reports from Israeli defense sources indicate that more than 500 targets were struck across at least 24 provinces inside Iran. The most intense bombardment occurred in and around Tehran.
Explosions were reported near some of the regime’s most sensitive locations, including the Supreme Leader’s compound, the presidential palace, the headquarters of the Supreme National Security Council, and multiple high level military installations.
Additional targets were hit in Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, Kermanshah, and Bushehr. Air defense systems, missile production centers, underground launch facilities, drone depots, and command hubs were among the reported objectives.
Iran’s Red Crescent Society released preliminary casualty figures late Saturday, claiming at least 201 people were killed and 747 injured. Among those confirmed dead were senior officials, including the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
Despite the intensity of the strikes, Iranian authorities insisted that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian were alive. However, communications from Tehran’s top leadership remained limited, fueling speculation about internal disruption.
Tehran did not wait long to respond.
Within hours, Iran unleashed waves of ballistic missiles and armed drones aimed at Israel and several U.S. military installations throughout the Gulf.
Air raid sirens sounded across Israel as defensive systems worked to intercept incoming threats. Israeli officials reported 89 injuries, most described as minor, along with structural damage and fires in scattered locations. Three missiles reportedly impacted Israeli territory directly.
American facilities in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain were also targeted. Al Udeid Air Base, Ali Al Salem Air Base, Al Dhafra Air Base, and the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet all came under fire during the retaliatory barrage.
The violence spilled beyond strictly military targets.
Drone debris reportedly struck civilian areas in Dubai, including parts of Palm Jumeirah and a major hotel. Additional impacts were reported in Abu Dhabi and parts of Syria, leaving at least five civilians dead. Explosions were also heard in Manama, Kuwait City, Riyadh, and Amman, though many of those incidents appeared to involve intercepted projectiles.
In a public address, President Trump framed the operation as a necessary step to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to weaken its ability to threaten allies and destabilize the region. He also called on the Iranian people to challenge their ruling regime.
According to Fox News, the operation is expected to continue for several days as U.S. and Israeli forces assess damage and pursue additional objectives.
The coming hours and days could determine whether this remains a targeted military campaign or escalates into a wider regional conflict. One thing is clear: the stakes have rarely been higher.
