Pelosi’s New “Democracy” Project Exposed

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is once again at the center of political controversy after announcing a major new initiative at the University of California, Berkeley. While supporters describe the project as an effort to strengthen civic engagement and educate future leaders, critics argue the timing has renewed longstanding questions about congressional stock trading and public trust.

The new Nancy Pelosi Institute for Representative Democracy is scheduled to open in January 2027 within UC Berkeley’s Political Science Department. According to the university, the institute will focus on research, education, and leadership development centered on representative democracy and public service.

The announcement comes as Pelosi continues to face criticism from conservatives over stock trades made by her husband, Paul Pelosi. Although Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly stated that she does not own individual stocks and has denied personally directing her husband’s investments, Republican lawmakers and watchdog groups have continued to scrutinize the family’s financial disclosures.
