The new Nancy Pelosi Institute for Representative Democracy is scheduled to open in January 2027 within UC Berkeley’s Political Science Department. According to the university, the institute will focus on research, education, and leadership development centered on representative democracy and public service.
The announcement comes as Pelosi continues to face criticism from conservatives over stock trades made by her husband, Paul Pelosi. Although Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly stated that she does not own individual stocks and has denied personally directing her husband’s investments, Republican lawmakers and watchdog groups have continued to scrutinize the family’s financial disclosures.
