The Biden administration spent years insisting the immigration system was secure and tightly monitored. Now federal investigators are uncovering what critics say may have been one of the biggest visa fraud operations hiding in plain sight.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, agents investigating companies tied to the STEM Optional Practical Training program uncovered a stunning pattern: empty office buildings, fake business addresses, phantom workers, and foreign nationals allegedly using fraudulent employment records to stay and work legally inside the United States.
What investigators discovered is fueling fresh outrage among conservatives who have long warned that America’s visa system was being exploited while Washington bureaucrats looked the other way.
ICE Finds “Employers” That Don’t Exist
Federal agents launched inspections across multiple states, including Texas, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, and New Jersey. The investigation targeted employers participating in the OPT program, which allows foreign students studying in the United States to remain in the country temporarily for work experience after graduation.
But investigators reportedly found supposed workplaces that appeared completely abandoned.
