The stunning reversal came during a conversation at a Washington, D.C. security summit hosted by Politico, where Mayorkas appeared to openly contradict the testimony he repeatedly delivered to Congress during the worst border crisis in modern American history.
For years, Americans watched chaos unfold at the border while the administration insisted everything was functioning properly. Border towns were overwhelmed. Migrant encounters shattered records month after month. Federal agents warned the system was collapsing under the pressure.
