The Republican establishment spent heavily trying to stop Ken Paxton from capturing a U.S. Senate seat in Texas.
It failed.
Now, after Paxton decisively defeated longtime Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican primary, the party apparatus that fought him is reportedly offering little financial help as Democrats pour money into a race that could determine control of the Senate.
