Fake Cops Busted: Homeowners Fire Back!

The Shootout Begins

Instead of identifying themselves with squad cars or flashing lights, the impostors decided to blast through the front door. Bullets flew first from the intruders — but the homeowners were ready.

The family inside grabbed their firearms and returned fire through the door, dropping both suspects before the criminals could get inside.

Neighbors later told KHOU-TV they heard as many as 22 gunshots rip through the quiet street. Despite the barrage, no one inside the home was harmed. “Thankfully, no one else is hurt,” Khan said.

Police Impersonators Are a Growing Threat

Detectives spent nearly half a day combing over the scene after the shootout. HPD Detective Kyle Stringer reminded the public that real law enforcement officers don’t show up looking like ski-masked robbers.

“Obviously, a police car with some sort of lights and sirens and a bullhorn where we’ll be announcing ourselves,” Stringer said. He added another obvious point: police don’t wear ski masks.

But as Stringer admitted, it’s not always easy to spot a fake.

Just last month in California, a man named Marshal Goodnight was busted in Hemet for pretending to be a motorcycle cop. He had the look down — uniform, belt, Glock-style pistol, baton, pepper spray, even tasers. But when real police pulled him over for traffic violations, they quickly learned he was a felon playing dress-up.

What To Do If You Suspect a Fake

The Hemet Police Department offered advice that applies everywhere. “If you believe you are being pulled over by someone who may be impersonating a law enforcement officer, please call 9-1-1, and inform the dispatcher of your location, vehicle description, and concerns. Keep your doors locked and windows up, until a dispatcher can confirm identity and guide you on what to do next,” their release stated.

Armed Citizens Make the Difference

This latest case in Houston highlights a truth the left hates to admit: law-abiding homeowners with firearms are the last line of defense against violent criminals. When masked men opened fire, it wasn’t 9-1-1 that saved the day. It was two Americans willing and able to defend themselves.

The two impostors thought disguises and badges would intimidate their targets. Instead, they met the business end of armed resistance. In the end, the lesson is simple — evil doesn’t always knock politely, but when it does, it’s better to be ready.
