The NFL is facing an ugly off-field controversy just weeks before the new season after San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York was arrested in Ohio in connection with an undercover prostitution operation.
York, 46, was taken into custody Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, after allegedly responding to an undercover advertisement and arranging to pay for sexual activity. He was initially charged with engaging in prostitution before prosecutors amended that count as part of a plea agreement.
The billionaire NFL executive appeared in court Monday morning and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.
