A troubling mystery in the Arizona desert just took another dramatic turn.
The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has intensified after forensic testing failed to identify a suspect through federal DNA databases. Now, with investigators facing new obstacles, an anonymous donor has doubled the reward for information — pushing the total to a staggering $200,000.
Law enforcement officials say Guthrie vanished from her Tucson home in the early hours of Feb. 1. What began as a missing persons case has since evolved into a suspected abduction investigation, complete with blood evidence, doorbell camera footage, and a masked figure seen lurking outside her residence.
And yet, despite months of work, authorities still have no named suspect.
DNA Test Comes Up Empty
Investigators had hoped a break in the case would come from a glove discovered roughly two miles from Guthrie’s home. According to officials, the glove appeared consistent with those worn by a masked individual captured on a porch camera the night she disappeared.
