“Yes, things can always happen. Yes, terrible tragedies happen,” Vance admitted. “But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term, and do great things for the American people.”
Vance also made it clear that his first 200 days in office have prepared him for any scenario. “And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days,” he said.
White House Responds to Health Questions
Speculation about Trump’s health spiked last month after photos circulated showing swelling in his legs and bruising on his hand. To put rumors to rest, White House physician Sean Barbabella released a memo clarifying the situation.
Barbabella reported that Trump has “chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and common condition among people over 70.” As for the bruising, Barbabella explained it was “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin,” which is part of Trump’s cardiovascular prevention regimen.
The bottom line? Trump remains vigorous and sharp — much to the frustration of Democrats and the media who continue to push narratives about his age.

Johnson Backs Trump’s Big Idea
Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson is rallying behind Trump’s latest idea to energize the GOP. The president recently floated the possibility of holding a Republican National Convention-style event before the 2026 midterms.
During a Fox News interview, Johnson revealed that Trump personally called him with the proposal.
“I was in Detroit yesterday morning. He called me 15 minutes before that truth and he said, ‘Mike, I’ve got a great idea.’ Let’s have it. I’m so excited about this. I said, ‘Mr. President, let’s go.’ Because I think that would be such a great rallying point right before the midterm election for us to tout all the great successes we’ve had to enjoy that,” Johnson said.
Johnson couldn’t hide his enthusiasm. “The president loves the idea of it. I do as well. We got to pick the right location. But look, I’m all for it and I think it’s going to be great. Well, let us know the date so we can mark it on our calendars.”
Trump himself teased the plan earlier this week on Truth Social, celebrating Republican momentum and blasting Biden’s failures. “We have raised far more money than the Democrats, and are having a great time fixing all of the Country Destroying mistakes made by the Biden Administration, and watching the USA heal and prosper,” Trump wrote.
He then dropped the bombshell: “In that light, I am thinking of recommending a National Convention to the Republican Party, just prior to the Midterms. It has never been done before. STAY TUNED!!!”
Speaker Johnson quickly endorsed the idea on X, posting: “YES, Mr. President! Let’s go!!!!” alongside a flurry of American flag emojis.
A Confident Future
Between Vance’s reassurance and Johnson’s full-throated support, the message from GOP leadership is clear: President Trump remains strong, the Republican Party is energized, and 2026 could be a historic midterm for conservatives.
