Tehran woke up to a scene that looked straight out of an end-of-the-world movie.
Videos flooding social media show the Iranian capital wrapped in massive plumes of black smoke after coordinated strikes by U.S. and Israeli forces hit critical oil facilities early Saturday morning. The attacks mark the first time the coalition has directly targeted Iran’s oil infrastructure since the current conflict erupted.
Footage taken across the city reveals towering columns of smoke rising over residential districts as flames from burning oil depots lit up the skyline. In several clips circulating online, entire neighborhoods appear coated in a thick haze while orange fireballs erupt from storage facilities.
The strikes were aimed primarily at Iran’s petroleum storage and refining infrastructure located in and around Tehran. Several key sites were reportedly struck, including fuel depots, transport centers, and refinery operations considered vital to the regime’s military and logistical capabilities.
Among the hardest-hit locations was the Shahran oil depot in northwest Tehran. Following the strike, enormous fires tore through the facility, sending dense black smoke billowing high above the city.
