The military showdown with Iran is entering a new and dangerous phase and President Donald Trump is signaling that every option remains on the table.
During remarks to reporters over the weekend, Trump refused to rule out the possibility of deploying American ground forces inside Iran as the conflict with the regime intensifies. The comments came as U.S. and Israeli forces continue pounding Iranian military targets in what officials say is one of the most aggressive coordinated operations in the region in decades.
The campaign, known as Operation Epic Fury on the American side and Operation Lion’s Roar by Israel, began on February 28, 2026. The joint operation launched with massive strikes aimed at crippling Iran’s military infrastructure and dismantling the regime’s ability to continue its nuclear weapons development.
Officials inside the administration have argued the military action became unavoidable after intelligence indicated Tehran was accelerating its uranium enrichment program and potentially moving toward producing a large number of nuclear weapons.
According to administration officials, Iran was threatening to produce as many as eleven nuclear weapons, a development that dramatically escalated concerns in Washington and among U.S. allies in the Middle East.
