It took a full-blown federal intervention to clean up the disaster that has been festering in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s own backyard. After years of neglect, lawlessness, and progressive grandstanding, federal agents just dropped the hammer on a violent street gang that turned parts of Queens into a war zone.
The infamous 18th Street gang—one of the most brutal criminal networks in the country—was finally hit with a massive federal crackdown. The arrests rocked the Roosevelt Avenue corridor, a stretch of Queens that locals say has been hijacked by gangs, traffickers, and criminal thugs operating with near impunity.
Eight gang members were swept up in the operation, and seven of them were in the country illegally—once again proving that open-borders ideology has deadly consequences. The same policies AOC champions are the very ones that have endangered the very people she’s supposed to represent.
These weren’t your average street criminals. Federal authorities say the crew was engaged in large-scale drug trafficking, illegal weapons distribution, and a disturbing level of extortion. Their operations stretched across multiple criminal fronts, including printing fake IDs, running counterfeit currency, and shaking down local businesses for protection money.
