Social Media TURNS on Trump Over Epstein Docs

For the first time in recent memory, former President Donald J. Trump found himself on the receiving end of a social media backlash—not from the left, but from his own base. After weighing in on a storm of controversy surrounding the Epstein case and reports of tension between Attorney General Pam Bondi and high-ranking FBI officials, Trump’s Truth Social post was flooded with negative engagement—an unusual sight on the platform he dominates.

The controversy exploded after reports surfaced of a heated dispute between FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and AG Pam Bondi over the handling of the Epstein investigation. Bongino, reportedly furious over the lack of transparency, allegedly took a day off to consider resigning in protest. Adding fuel to the fire, rumors swirled that FBI Director Kash Patel might also step down over the scandal. Patel, however, called such rumors “conspiracy theories” over the weekend.

In the midst of growing public outrage, the FBI and DOJ dropped a bombshell of their own. A brief two-page memo released Sunday claimed that Epstein had no “client list” and reaffirmed the narrative that he died by suicide. Most notably, the agencies suggested that no additional Epstein-related documents would be released, enraging Americans who’ve waited years for answers.

President Trump took to Truth Social to address the swirling drama. Instead of demanding accountability or further investigation, Trump defended Bondi and downplayed the firestorm.
