In a revelation sure to fuel an already blazing controversy, former President Joe Biden has confessed that he wasn’t personally involved in approving every single pardon issued during his time in the White House — despite previously insisting he made “every single” decision himself.
Over the weekend, Biden sat down with The New York Times and offered a startling admission about how mass pardons were handled under his administration. He and his aides acknowledged that he hadn’t signed off on each clemency case individually, but rather left the details to others after outlining broad criteria.
“Mr. Biden did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons that applied to large numbers of people, he and aides confirmed,” reported the Times. “Rather, after extensive discussion of different possible criteria, he signed off on the standards he wanted.”
