Dan Bongino, the fiery former Secret Service agent and conservative commentator, found himself in hot water after retweeting a video of controversial FBI figure Stanley Meador—the same official linked to a scandal that targeted devout Catholic Americans as potential threats.
Meador, currently serving as Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Richmond Field Office, became infamous for overseeing the creation of an internal memo that labeled “radical-traditionalist Catholics” as possible domestic extremists. The document, which was later retracted after intense scrutiny, suggested that Catholics who attend the Traditional Latin Mass could be flagged as potential recruits for white supremacist groups.

The video Bongino reshared was initially posted by the Richmond Field Office. It features Meador addressing a criminal investigation involving the online group “764”—a digital network notorious for cybercrimes targeting minors through manipulation, fake messaging apps, and psychological torment. While the FBI framed the video as a show of enforcement action, the choice to spotlight Meador reopened old wounds for many on the right.
