President Donald Trump’s administration secured another important victory in federal court Tuesday after a judge removed the final legal barrier standing in the way of ending Temporary Protected Status for thousands of Ethiopian nationals living in the United States.
U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy, sitting in Boston, lifted the remaining injunction that had prevented the Department of Homeland Security from terminating the protections. The decision gives the administration a clearer path to move forward with its plans to unwind the designation covering more than 5,000 Ethiopians.
The ruling represents another setback for immigration advocates challenging the Trump administration’s effort to scale back temporary humanitarian protections established or expanded during the Biden years.
