Newly released communications are putting Anthony Fauci’s pandemic-era messaging under fresh scrutiny after showing that he privately discussed a theoretical miscarriage concern involving COVID-19 vaccination shortly before publicly emphasizing that federal regulators had not detected pregnancy-related safety signals.
The records, released as Republican senators intensify their investigation of the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, reveal a striking contrast between the caution being discussed internally and the reassurance Fauci delivered publicly.
But the documents do not establish that COVID vaccines caused miscarriages. Subsequent research did not find a strong association between vaccination and miscarriage, while COVID infection itself posed risks during pregnancy.
