The United Arab Emirates scrambled its defenses Tuesday after authorities said two ballistic missiles fired from Iran were detected heading toward the Gulf nation, triggering emergency warnings and putting the country’s military on heightened alert.
The August 18 incident sent residents reaching for their phones as government alerts warned people in Dubai and elsewhere to stay in secure locations and follow official instructions.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, air defense systems tracked two ballistic missiles originating from Iran as they approached Emirati territory.
