DHS Just Shut Down Citizenship Loophole!

A controversial immigration policy that has allowed certain applicants to seek U.S. citizenship without paying filing fees could soon become a thing of the past.

While much of the media attention over the weekend centered on comments made by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin during a CNN interview, a far more significant development emerged the following day. The Department of Homeland Security unveiled a proposal that would eliminate fee waivers for naturalization applicants, a move that supporters say reinforces the Trump administration’s broader effort to ensure immigrants—not taxpayers—cover the cost of immigration benefits.

Despite the significance of the proposal, CNN host Jake Tapper focused primarily on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) during his interview with Mullin, leaving the citizenship fee issue largely untouched.
