Mayorkas Finally Admitted the Truth!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Now Mayorkas appears to be acknowledging what his critics said all along.

During the summit discussion, the former DHS chief admitted the threshold for migrants claiming “credible fear of persecution” had effectively become too permissive. He also praised the executive action President Joe Biden finally implemented in June 2024 to tighten asylum restrictions and reduce the flood of illegal crossings.

More importantly, he admitted he wished those measures had been implemented earlier.

That admission is politically explosive because it cuts directly against years of messaging from the White House and congressional Democrats, who repeatedly attacked Republicans for demanding tougher enforcement.

For years, Democrats and media allies portrayed stricter asylum standards and tougher border policies as extreme, cruel, or even un-American. But once polling collapsed and public outrage intensified, the administration abruptly embraced policies remarkably similar to the ones they spent years condemning.

And the results were immediate.

Federal data showed southern border encounters dropped dramatically after the June 2024 order took effect. Within weeks, crossings reportedly fell by more than half, confirming what many conservatives had argued for years: enforcement works when the government actually chooses to enforce the law.

That reality leaves Democrats facing an uncomfortable question they desperately want to avoid.

If tougher enforcement solved the crisis almost overnight, why did the administration wait until an election year to act?

Mayorkas refused to directly answer whether the border disaster helped propel Trump back into the White House.

“I am not in a position to speculate,” he said.

But for millions of Americans, there is nothing left to speculate about.

The administration spent years insisting there was no crisis while cities across the country struggled with overcrowding, strained social services, rising costs, and growing public frustration tied to mass migration.

Even more disturbing was the summit’s discussion surrounding migrant children lost within the federal system.

When asked about the role of former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra in the disappearance of thousands of migrant children placed through the Office of Refugee Resettlement, Mayorkas distanced himself from the issue.

Rather than accepting responsibility or addressing the failures directly, he claimed he only knew what had been publicly reported and argued it would be unfair to judge another cabinet official without understanding the full circumstances.

That answer is unlikely to satisfy Americans demanding accountability.

Critics argue the Biden administration created a humanitarian and national security catastrophe by weakening enforcement while simultaneously encouraging mass migration through lax asylum policies and inconsistent messaging.

The political fallout became so severe that House Republicans impeached Mayorkas in early 2024, marking the first impeachment of a cabinet secretary in nearly 150 years. Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, quickly shut down the proceedings before a full trial could even begin.

Now, long after the damage was done, Mayorkas is effectively admitting the system failed under his leadership.

Conservatives see the moment as vindication.

For years they were mocked, censored, and accused of fearmongering for warning that Biden’s border policies were unsustainable. Now the architect of those very policies is conceding the standards were too weak and the crackdown should have happened sooner.

That is not simply a policy disagreement anymore.

It is an acknowledgment that the crisis devastating communities across the country was not inevitable. It was the direct result of political decisions made in Washington.

And according to Mayorkas himself, those decisions came far too late.
