“For the past four years, as the Chair of the Board at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), Linda has been a fierce advocate for Parents’ Rights, working hard at both AFPI and America First Works (AFW) to achieve Universal School Choice in 12 States, giving children the opportunity to receive an excellent Education, regardless of zip code or income. As Secretary of Education, Linda will fight tirelessly to expand ‘Choice’ to every State in America, and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families,” Trump said.

The President-elect also praised McMahon’s current role as Co-Chair of the Trump-Vance Transition Team. “She is now doing an incredible job as Co-Chair of our Trump-Vance Transition Team. Linda will use her decades of Leadership experience, and deep understanding of both Education and Business, to empower the next Generation of American Students and Workers, and make America Number One in Education in the World. We will send Education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort.”

Linda McMahon is no stranger to high-profile moments. Though she’s not a regular in the spotlight, she’s always been willing to step into the ring—both literally and figuratively. As a major player in the WWE, McMahon frequently appeared on-screen, even sparring with female wrestlers. Her tough-as-nails public persona was solidified after an infamous incident in which she slapped a female host who tried to take her place in a WWE skit.

Beyond her larger-than-life persona in the wrestling world, McMahon has carved out a significant political career. After President Trump’s first term, she co-founded the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), a think tank focused on advancing America First policies on Capitol Hill. Together with former economic advisor Larry Kudlow, McMahon helped raise substantial funds to support Trump’s re-election bid. Her financial backing of the Trump movement goes back to 2016, when she contributed a whopping $7 million to pro-Trump super PACs.

Before becoming a political and business powerhouse, McMahon served as WWE’s CEO, where she played a key role in the company’s expansion and its eventual public listing. She stepped down from that role in 2009, but her leadership in the wrestling industry helped her build a strong network of supporters and allies.

McMahon’s entry into politics hasn’t been without its setbacks. She ran for U.S. Senate in Connecticut twice, though both campaigns ended in defeat. Still, she is undeterred, with Trump having donated $5,000 to her 2012 Senate bid, a sign of his ongoing support. Now, McMahon is poised to take over the Department of Education, replacing Miguel Cardona, who served as Education Secretary under President Joe Biden. Cardona, also a Connecticut native, previously held the position of Connecticut’s Commissioner of Education from 2019 to 2021.

With McMahon at the helm, Trump is sending a clear message: his administration is committed to shaking up the status quo and putting power back in the hands of parents and local communities. If her track record in business and advocacy is any indication, McMahon will likely be a formidable force in the fight to reshape American education.
