In comments that immediately drew international attention, the Iranian president cautioned officials against fueling internal political fractures while simultaneously insisting the government must stop pretending the nation remains untouched by the conflict.
“Iran’s leaders “should avoid any tone or voices that create division, but we must also face reality; It is not the case that we have not suffered harm,” Pezeshkian said.
The statement marked a dramatic shift in tone from the usual hardline rhetoric often broadcast by Tehran during confrontations with the West. Instead of portraying total resilience, Pezeshkian openly admitted Iran has paid a price as tensions intensify.
But the Iranian president did not stop there.
In an even more remarkable moment of candor, Pezeshkian criticized what many interpreted as the regime’s own propaganda machine, arguing that the Iranian people deserve transparency instead of carefully crafted narratives designed to hide the severity of the situation.
“Anyone in a position of leadership must speak honestly and transparently to their society and their people,” Pezeshkian told officials. “Misleading information, false messaging, or portraying a reality in which ‘they are collapsing while we are prospering’ is unacceptable. The truth is that both we and others face challenges.”
The comments quickly sparked speculation among analysts that Iran’s leadership may be increasingly concerned about unrest inside the country as economic hardship, military pressure, and international isolation continue mounting.
Despite the unusually direct acknowledgment of Iran’s struggles, Pezeshkian still attempted to reassure supporters that Tehran would not cave under pressure from the United States or its allies.
The Iranian president doubled down on the regime’s long-standing message that surrender is not an option.
“We will not sacrifice our country’s dignity and honor for comfort or convenience. We have valid reasons and clear justification, and we are fully capable of defending our nation’s rights with strength, backed by our people,” he said.
The high-profile remarks come at a critical moment as Donald Trump continues ramping up pressure on Iran over its nuclear ambitions and military posture in the region.
Trump recently warned Tehran that time is running out to negotiate a deal acceptable to the United States — one that would permanently prevent the Iranian regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
According to multiple reports, Trump is expected to convene a Situation Room meeting on Tuesday to discuss possible next steps, including the potential for renewed military action if diplomacy fails to produce results.
At the same time, Trump blasted major media outlets over their coverage of the escalating conflict, accusing them of distorting reality and downplaying American strength regardless of what unfolds overseas.
In a lengthy and fiery statement posted publicly, Trump argued that even a complete Iranian collapse would somehow be spun by corporate media organizations as a victory for Tehran.

“If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us, and if their entire Military walks out of Tehran, weapons dropped and hands held high, each shouting ‘I surrender, I surrender’ while wildly waving the representative White Flag, and if their entire remaining Leadership signs all necessary ‘Documents of Surrender,’ and admit their defeat to the great power and force of the magnificent U.S.A., The Failing New York Times, The China Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America, it wasn’t even close,” Trump wrote.
Trump then closed with another shot aimed directly at Democrats and legacy media organizations.
“The Dumacrats and Media have totally lost their way. They have gone absolutely CRAZY!” he added.
The exchange highlights the increasingly dangerous standoff now developing between the United States and Iran, with both governments projecting strength while quietly acknowledging the enormous stakes involved. And for Tehran, Pezeshkian’s unexpected admission may reveal a deeper concern brewing beneath the surface — that ordinary citizens are beginning to demand honesty as pressure from Washington intensifies.
