President Donald Trump is once again driving the political conversation inside the Republican Party, escalating his push to reshape GOP ranks following a wave of recent primary shakeups and high-profile intraparty clashes.
In the wake of Senator Bill Cassidy’s political defeat in Louisiana, Trump has moved quickly to keep pressure on Republican lawmakers he views as disloyal or insufficiently aligned with his America First agenda. The former president is now turning his attention toward long-time Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, a frequent critic within GOP ranks.
Just days after Trump-backed political forces helped end Cassidy’s political standing, Trump escalated his campaign against Massie, endorsing a challenger in Kentucky’s Republican primary. His preferred candidate is Navy SEAL veteran and farmer Ed Gallrein, who is now positioned as the centerpiece of a high-stakes intraparty showdown.
