Ohio’s 2026 governor’s race has taken an unexpected turn, with prediction markets currently giving Democrat Amy Acton an edge over Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.
As of Sept. 21–22, prediction-market prices placed Acton around 58–60 cents, while Ramaswamy was trading in the low 40s. Polymarket likewise showed Acton ahead of Ramaswamy. These prices represent market-implied probabilities rather than traditional polling and can move quickly as traders react to new information.
The numbers have drawn attention because Ohio has become a reliably Republican state in presidential politics. Donald Trump carried Ohio in 2024, winning the state by a substantial margin, according to official election results.
But the governor’s contest is a separate election, and recent polling suggests the race is considerably tighter than the prediction-market gap might imply. A Bowling Green State University survey released in September found Acton leading Ramaswamy 48% to 45% among respondents asked about the governor’s race.
