Shockingly, the Biden administration’s State Department removed a $10 million bounty on Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an Al Qaeda-affiliated group. This came after U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf met with Jolani and other HTS leaders in Damascus on December 20.
Prominent U.S. journalist Pamela Geller cited reports stating that nearly 17,000 people are dead and 15,000 more remain missing. “I am receiving hundreds of emails from people in Syria begging for help,” she said.
Alawites on the Syrian coast are facing total extermination. A desperate plea from within Syria describes a nightmare unfolding before the world’s silent eyes. “They are burning our homes, slaughtering our families, and torturing our children. They rip out the eyes of our young, tear out their hearts, and leave their lifeless bodies as warnings.”
Foreign fighters are pouring in from all regions, hunting down Alawites and Christians, invading homes, and erasing entire communities. “This is not war. This is annihilation,” the plea continues. “We beg you—grant us asylum, grant us protection before it is too late. We are running out of time.”
A disturbing video has surfaced showing a terrorist militia commander instructing his men not to record footage of the massacres. “We are going to enter (attack), we don’t want to photograph anything, anyone takes photographs will be held accountable, you have to give up your phones,” the commander is heard saying.
Another video reportedly shows an Alawite civilian being attacked and killed in the streets of Damascus simply because of his religious identity.
Syrian journalist and human rights activist Nizar Nayouf has reported that 15,000 Alawites have been executed in a premeditated operation. According to Nayouf, the massacre was orchestrated since February 24, with detailed digital maps marking Alawite, Christian, and Ismaili communities distributed to terrorist faction leaders.

Religious clerics aligned with Al-Jolani have allegedly trained militants on how to identify Alawites, warning that Alawite men can be harder to distinguish from Sunni Muslims due to similar circumcision practices and dialects.
The crisis has drawn condemnation from Christian leaders in Syria. The patriarchs of the largest Christian churches issued a joint statement decrying the atrocities: “Homes have been violated, their sanctity disregarded, and properties looted – scenes that starkly reflect the immense suffering endured by the Syrian people.”
“The Christian churches, while strongly condemning any act that threatens civil peace, denounce and condemn the massacres targeting innocent civilians, and call for an immediate end to these horrific acts, which stand in stark opposition to all human and moral values.”
Amid this chaos, U.S.-allied Kurdish forces in Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), have reached a controversial agreement with the Assad government to integrate autonomous Kurdish institutions into the national government. According to AFP, the deal includes the incorporation of border posts, airports, and oil and gas fields under Syrian state control.
Meanwhile, Pamela Geller cited a letter sent to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, pleading for immediate intervention: “Mr. Secretary-General, here is Syria, here is the coast. Every minute a massacre is being committed against the Alawites and Christians.”
The letter accuses so-called President Ahmed al-Sharaa of deploying terrorist groups to kill minorities in a push to establish an Islamic Umayyad state. It alleges that mass graves, body burnings, and secret killings are being used to hide the extent of the atrocities. “They throw bodies into the sea, bury them in mass graves, or disguise killers as security personnel to mislead the world.”
In a chilling account, the letter warns of poisoned food being sent to Alawite refugees to finish them off. “The Russian soldiers got rid of this poisoned food. You can confirm the truth of my words from the Russian general residing in the Russian base in Hmeimim Airport.”
The appeal is clear: Alawites and Christians in Syria demand international protection. “We live in fear, panic, and intimidation from these Takfiri gangs. Please, be an example of justice and fairness. Provide us with international protection. Do not let the rest of us die.”
As the number of dead climbs to nearly 17,000, with 15,000 missing, the world remains disturbingly silent. The question now is whether any nation will act before it is too late.
