Chicago endured another violent holiday weekend as a mass shooting during Juneteenth celebrations left more than a dozen people wounded, adding fuel to a long-running national debate over crime, public safety, and gun control.
The most shocking incident unfolded in Princeton Park, where gunmen reportedly drove through the neighborhood and unleashed a barrage of gunfire into a gathering of people celebrating the holiday. Investigators later recovered more than 100 shell casings from the scene, highlighting the scale of the attack.
Thirteen people were struck by bullets in the shooting. Authorities said victims ranged in age from teenagers to middle-aged adults. Despite the massive crime scene and extensive evidence collection, police had not announced any arrests as of the latest reports.
