Tulsi Just Walked Away From Trump

She wrote that she is “deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half.”

“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” she wrote. “My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”

The emotional letter painted a grim picture of the difficult road ahead for her family.

She explained that her husband “faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months.”

“At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle,” the ODNI director explained.

“I will remain forever grateful to you and to the American people for the profound honor of serving our nation as DNI.”

The resignation marks a major turning point for an administration that relied heavily on Gabbard’s outsider image and fierce willingness to challenge entrenched Washington institutions.

Once viewed as a rising Democratic star, Gabbard shocked the political world when she walked away from the Democratic Party in 2022, accusing party leaders of embracing radicalism, censorship, and endless foreign wars.

Her alliance with Trump raised eyebrows at first, but conservatives quickly embraced her tough stance against intelligence community abuses and political weaponization inside the federal government.

During her tenure as Director of National Intelligence, Gabbard became a central figure in the administration’s efforts to overhaul the intelligence apparatus and restore trust after years of political controversy surrounding federal agencies.

President Trump reacted publicly to the resignation Friday in a statement posted to Truth Social.

“Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th,” Trump wrote, adding, “Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her. Her highly respected Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Aaron Lukas, will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence.”

Trump allies immediately praised Gabbard’s service while offering prayers and support for her husband and family.

Many conservatives noted that Gabbard’s exit comes during a critical period for the administration, with ongoing geopolitical tensions overseas and continued battles in Washington over intelligence oversight and national security priorities.

Even political opponents acknowledged the seriousness of the situation surrounding her husband’s diagnosis.

For supporters, however, the moment also serves as another reminder that behind the brutal pace of politics are families dealing with painful personal battles away from the cameras.

Gabbard’s departure leaves a significant vacancy inside Trump’s national security team, but administration officials appear determined to ensure a smooth transition under Acting DNI Aaron Lukas.

Whether Gabbard eventually returns to public life remains unknown.

For now, one of the administration’s most unconventional and closely watched figures is stepping away from the political battlefield to fight a far more personal war beside her husband.
