A political firestorm erupted this week after the Trump administration abruptly removed former Miss California USA winner Carrie Prejean Boller from the White House Religious Liberty Commission. What began as an internal dispute during a commission hearing quickly spiraled into a public clash after the former beauty queen launched a blistering attack on President Donald Trump and the panel’s leadership.
The controversy centers on a recent hearing focused on antisemitism in the United States. According to multiple reports, tensions erupted when Prejean Boller allegedly attempted to steer the discussion away from its stated purpose and toward broader political issues involving Israel and the conflict in Gaza.
Officials close to the commission said the situation escalated quickly and disrupted the proceedings. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who chairs the Religious Liberty Commission, said the hearing was meant to focus on antisemitism but was instead sidetracked.
Patrick accused Prejean Boller of trying to derail the event, saying she attempted to “hijack a hearing” on antisemitism in order to promote “her own personal and political agenda.”
The administration moved swiftly after the incident. Prejean Boller was removed from the panel, a decision that some religious leaders and conservative commentators reportedly supported.
